Hi! I’m Abby!
When choosing what I wanted to do with my career, I felt torn between two seemingly unrelated options: music education and physical therapy. It felt like I was choosing between sports and music, an impossible choice!
But I see now that I didn’t have to choose. Musicians deserve the same health and fitness resources traditional athletes have had for decades, and I am in the perfect position to help.
I help injured musicians feel better, and healthy musicians stay that way. Together, my clients and I build the individualized programs they need to be stronger, more resilient artists. To do this, I combine the know-how gleaned from a doctorate in physical therapy and years of clinical experience as a PT and coach. The experiences of so, so many hours spent at the piano and bopping with my a cappella group gave me firsthand experience with the physical demands musicians face— and how often they do not get the support they deserve or feel welcome in fitness and health spaces.
I spent six years working with a collegiate soccer program, developing their strength and conditioning programs and providing field-side PT services. In those years, the team saw significantly fewer injuries (which means more time on the field) and SIX trips to the championship match. The players trusted the process, worked hard, and felt supported. By adapting these processes specifically for the unique needs of performing artists— who are athletes in their own right— musicians can build the strength, stamina, and resilience they need to focus on their musicality, creativity, and performance entirely.
My favorite part of this work is that I am constantly fangirling over my clients. I love to watch them perform. And even more so, I love seeing them saying yes to more gigs, feeling confident through a busy performance season, and feeling great while they play.
If you’re ready to feel strong, healthy, and supported by a PT and coach who knows what musicians need, let’s work together.
