Introducing Play Life Loudly, the podcast to make musicians feel their best

I am a physical therapist who sometimes wishes I was also a music teacher. Helping singers and musicians feel their best while they perform is the perfect mix for me!

Play Life Loudly is a weekly podcast where we will chat about physiology, what I wish musicians knew about movement, and how musicians' bodies work!

  • Good morning, World!

Welcome to the Play Life Loudly podcast. I am your host, Abby Halpin. I am a physical therapist who wishes to be a music teacher. A music teacher teaches people to move their bodies to create music. I, a physical therapist, teach musicians to move their bodies. Soo… It’s basically the same thing. Right? It’s really not, but it makes me feel like I’ve accomplished what I wanna do.

In all seriousness… I work with musicians and performers to recover from injuries or to figure out how to move in a way that works better for their performance. When I tell people this, they have interesting reactions. Here are five of them:

Oh… do musicians get hurt a lot?

That’s so cool! Do you get to listen to a lot of music at work then?

What’s the most common thing you see?

    Are you a musician?

    Wow, like professional musicians?

You can expect me to be here every week, talking about what musicians require from their bodies to do their best. I will nerd out about physiology and chat about what I wish musicians knew about how movement works. And most importantly, I will answer your questions. So if there is a topic or an issue you’re having that you wish I’d talk about, please email me or DM me or however you prefer. I will answer it to the best of my ability.

I am lucky to have found a way to combine all the pieces of who I am into one practice. I am a person that people come up to on the street asking for directions all the time. Even in places I don’t live! I must not look too intimidating or something. But I like being a resource for people. And I like channeling the athlete and musician parts of me into a place where I get to help others do their thing. I am here to help you be the best you - this is the intention of the title of this podcast- “Play Life Loudly”. Whether you are creating and playing professionally or recreationally, the world is better when you are healthy and happy. The world is better when you are being you.

I’ll sign off the same way I sign off of client sessions…

Let me know what you need!
